People's mind depends on languages. If there is no language, there is no mind. The differences of languages cause the differences of minds. It could be concluded that language is the carrier of mind. And language needs a carrier, too. That is character. Judging from the history, the foundation of westerners' thinking patten is formal logical thinking system. Phenician created letters for the lack of convenient word carrer. And then come Crecian formal logic. The reason why we Chinese character has not become abstract and built formal logical thinking system, is that we have convenient word carriers-wood strips and bamboo strips, thus restrain the hieroglyph and form a method of imitation. It is something like a kind of matephor, and not highly abstract. To sum up, it is the difference of the carriers that cause the gap of the thinking pattern. At last, the Chinese and English mind develop toward different direction. However, there are many common things between them, and we had better make better joint. It is difficult to achieve complete hamony. First of all, we must have a comprehensive look on the historical and philosophical basic viewpoints.
