最高级不加the主要有几种情况：

1.most 如果前面不加the,则它不表示“最…”,而是“非常”,相当于very.如：

This book is most interesting.(very interesting)

2.副词最高级修饰动词或形容词（做状语）时,可不加the,如：

Linda draws most carefully in her class.

3形容词最高级前有序数词、物主代词、指示代词或名词所有格等限定词修饰时,最高级前不用the,如：

The Yellow River is the second longest river in China． （黄河是中国第二长河.）
