The Jialingjiang River meets the Yangtze River in Chongqing.With this geographic advantage,the city has mighty potential in developing its waterway transportation.The Three Gorges Project,coupled with China's eleventh "five year plan" which maps out Chongqing as the future logistics center in West China,has initiated a golden opportunity for Chongqing in developing its transportation industry.My thesis shall focus on an analysis the advantages,present situation and problems of the city's waterway transportation,and shall offer corresponding solutions for these problems with a reference to domestic and international circumstances.
