Good afternoon,distinguished guests,

I’m XXX from XXX.It is really a great pleasure and honour to be here.Thanks for giving the opportunity.Today the topic of my speech is “Better Reading,Better Life”.

The first thing I want to emphasize at the very beginning is that reading should be positive and enjoyable.It is impossible to extract enjoyment from book if you are not willing to read.This is vital important.

Then,learning should be a never-ending process,from the cradle to the grave.With the world ever changing so fast,the cease from learning for just a few days will make a person drop behind.What's worse,lack of learning will inevitably lead to the stagnation of the mind,or even worse,its fossilization.Therefore,to stay mentally young,we have to take learning as a lifelong career.

Books are to mankind what memory is be the individual.Books contain the history of our race,the discoveries we have made,the accumulated knowledge and experience of ages; they picture for us the marvels and beauties of nature,help us in our difficulties,comfort us in sorrow and in suffering,change hours of weariness into moments of delight,store our minds with ideas,fill them with good and happy thoughts,and lift us out of and above ourselves.

As an office worker,we ourselves,may face our own stress.Most of these time,we just complain about it and sigh.You know,it makes no sense.So why use these time to read some high-grade books?Whenever I feel upset and frustrated,I escaped from that bad moods and indulged myself in books.One hour,two hours…I become high-spirit and have new power to the coming day.I think reading is the best way to release if not for the purpose of passing examinations or things like that.Read for pleasure,this is my faith.

As an office worker,we ourselves,may face some difficulties that we can not tackle,maybe due to short of knowledge.In this case,we should learn to improve ourselves.Cause competition appears everywhere and in every environment.Only by unremitting learning can we remain invincible.To live is to learn!Well,Excellent saying!

I feel richer after reading,I breath fresher air when I share the same opinion of the writer.I won’t stand here if I read little.The world seems more harmonious and colourful when I treat reading as one of my precious friends.So dear friends,join the group of reading,a unique you,a brilliant future is near the corner.
