如果你能把主语和宾语用is连起来,那么就可以用the same that,

如果你应该用is like 把主语和宾语连起来,那么你就用the same as.

比如这一句,你这样连就会顺畅很多：My hometown is like it used to be而不是my hometown is it used to be.

这句the same that一加进去就不通,我仔细想了一下有没有the same that 的语句,是有的.最先想到的一句是这个样子,the same story that happens to my life was on Jan 1st,last year.

所以也可以用一种很简单的判断方法,如果后面是接一个名词,那么无论如何不可能是that.
