p-Bromoaniline is a very important organic material in chemical engineering, and its synthesis has a very important significance. This experiment mainly uses reduction and bromination reactions, starting from nitrobenzene, via intermediates such as acetoaniline and p-bromoacetoanaline, and finally from a solution of p-bromoacetoaniline in aqueous sodium hydroxide, p-bromoaniline can be obtained using steam distillation. The results indicate that: this method has several advantages including readily obtainable starting material, low requirement for experimental equipments, and simpler handling. There still are several aspects including the long synthetic route and low yield, which deems further improvement.
