According to a study, students believe that the most important quality in a teacher, by order of preference, are: a good sense of humor (23.52%); responsibility, respect, and caring toward students (23.42%); kindness, friendliness, and an open mind (21.72%); teaching skills (19.02%); and courtesy and a neat appearance (9.42%).
Of these, I value respectfulness, openness, and teaching skills most. After all, being a good teacher should, first and foremost, mean the ability to teach students a lot. I think those are the qualities most conducive to such a result. The students who completed the survey, however, seem to differ slightly. They want to have fun while learning. I think that humor is important, but perhaps not the most important.
