The history of foot bridge dates back to Yuan dynasty 7 hunreds years ago,the foot bridge was already a place for scholars and poets to go to admire the sceneries by then,later on it evolved into bustled market place at the end of Ming dynasty and the beginning of Republic of China,it was jammed with booths,entertainment shows,and was full of retailers and pedlars,it drew a lot of tourist and became a well known amusement place in Beijing.
It was famous for various small tradesmen and all-embracing spirit,the roofs of the adjoining buidling almost overlapped and a variety of shows were on,all in all formed a vivid and colorful daily life of a maket place full of local tastes.the famous painting,"eight bizarre figures",which depicts the figures that were either uniquely skilled,or oddly shaped and strangly behaved,had became a symbolic element of foot bridge culture.
