一、what用作形容词,作名词的定语,表示疑问“什么的”,“怎样的”.如:
1）what book have you chosen?你选定了哪本书?
2）i shall be back this evening.i’m not sure what train.我今晚回去,但说不准乘哪趟火车.
注：what与which同样可放在名词前作定语来提问,但二者有区别.试比较：
1）what dictionary would you like?你喜欢什么样的词典?
2）which dictionary will you want,the chinese-english one or english-chinese one?你想要哪一本词典——汉英还是英汉?
由此可见,选择有范围时,一般用which,当选择无范围时,常用what提问.
