先看第一句：
成分划分；
【This 主语】【is 谓语】【the factory表语】 _where_【his father从句主语】【 worked 谓语,不及物动词】【three years ago.时间状语】
还原成两个分句：
a、This is the factory.
b、His father worked 【in the factory】three years ago.
还原后可知,先行词在从句中作【地点状语】,即从句谓语动词【worked 】与先行词【factory】是动词与地点状语的关系,故而用关系副词where(也可用 in which).
再看第二句：
分析句子成分：
【This主语】【 is 谓语】【the factory表语】_that/which_【his father从句主语】 【visited 谓语,及物动词】【three years ago.时间状语】
还原成两个分句：
a、This is the factory.
b、【His father主语】【 visited谓语】【the factory宾语】 【three years ago时间状语】.
还原后可知,先行词【the factory】在从句中作谓语动词【visited】的宾语,因此,用关系代词that/which.
