Chapter 3 Reading A dangerous servant

Hello, everyone .I’ m pleased to have an opportunity to talk about some of my teaching ideas, My topic is the A dangerous servant taken from Chapter 3 in junior 2.

There are 4 parts.

Part Ⅰ

The analysis of the teaching material

This lesson is a reading passage .It plays a very important part in the English teaching in this chapter. Its topic is talking about electricity .Students not only can improve the comprehension but also get more information about electricity.

Teaching aims

Know about some electric equipments and know they may produce one or more than one kind of energy.

Further develop the students’ reading ability and reading skills.

Teaching important points

How to improve the students’ reading ability and develop their reading skills.

Enable students to understand the text better.

Teaching difficult points

How to improve the students’ reading ability and develop their reading skills.

Part Ⅱ

Teaching method and teaching aids

Read the title ,the first and last paragraphs and look at the pictures. Then try to answer these questions.

Question-and-answer activity to get the detailed information in the text.

Teaching aids:

1.a computer and a courseware

2.a tape recorder

3.a dialogue ( According to the text, I made a dialogue)

Learning methods:

1.Studying independently

2.Discuss

Part Ⅲ Teaching procedures

Preparation for reading— Do choosing reading—Listen to the tape—Read the dialogue—discussion— homework

Step 1 Preparation for reading

(This step wants to arouse the students’ interest and learn the words students have previewed in the lesson.)

I ’ll use the slide , and show the pictures of electric equipments .At the same time ,I’ll let students try to do a dialogue like this and finish exercises of book.

Step 2 Do choosing reading

Give several minutes to read the title ,the first and last paragraphs and look at the pictures of the book. Then try to answer these questions.

What did the girl buy?

Who is looking foolish?

Who or what is the servant in the title?

Step 3 Listen to the tape

Step 4 Read the dialogue

Use question-and-answer activities to let the students understand the detailed information. Answer the following questions.

Did Benny often try to trick Daisy?

Was Benny sure what electricity looked like?

When Daisy returned, did Benny think that his trick had been successful?

What measures the amount we use?

How often do you get a bill for electricity?

Where are the cables buried?

Step 5 Discussion

1.Why is the servant in the title dangerous?

2.Nowadays there are a few electric equipments in each family. How can we save electricity?

Step 5 Homework

Finish exercises C,D and E (P32, P33)

Try to retell the text.

Play the dialogue.
