一、It was not until the meeting was over that he began to teach me English.是强调句,这里强调的是时间状语 until the meeting was over.如果不强调这个句子就成了如下：
He did not he began to teach me English until the meeting was over.一直到会议结束他才开始教我英语.
由此可见,本句的位于动词是 began,而不是 teach,不定式短语 to teach me English 是 began 的宾语.
二、要把 not ...until ...改为强调句,则需要把 not 和 until 引导的时间状语同时提前放到“It is + 强调部分 + that + 其余部分”中.如：
He didn't come back until seven.
强调句—— It was not until seven that he came back.
三、until/till 的含义是“一直到...的时候,前面所提到的行为开始向与该行为相反的方向发展”,因此它有两种用法：
1.与主句是瞬间动词的否定式连用,意思是“一直到...的时候,该动作从不存在变成瞬间产生的行为”,表示“直到...某瞬间动作才发生”,如上面所举的例子.
2.与主句是延续动词的肯定式连用,意思是“一直到...的时候,该已经不存在行为结束变成不再存在”,表示“某延续行为一直发生某个时候”,如：
He waited until I came.直到我到了,他就不再等候了.（或者：他一直等到我来了[言外之意就是“等候”的行为结束]）
