In my opinion, foreigners frequently go two extremes when they writing a book.Or it is too theoretic and complex to read - there are too many and data and theories in it.Or there are too many examples in it – there are only a few points but in a very thick book.
Blink is the second sort by all appearances. It is not difficult to read because there are many examples in it.Before I start to read this book,I had full of interested in it.I thought it is a book which could teach people to think, but now I notice it is not the one.Actually it gives only one voice from the beginning to the end – Spur with long accumulation.
This book shows that how we blink is a function of our experiences, training, and knowledge. It took various examples, such as the estimation of whether one couple will be divorce, senders of Morse code in wars, double net ball fault in tennis and so on.In fact,it tried to explain that when we got a certain level of thinking of something,we can make a decision by our experience in a very short time not think for a long time. Therefore, this blink is based on deliberate thinking. The blink can be called instinctive thinking as well and sometime it can make mistake as well. Thus we must make balance between deliberate thinking and instinctive thinking.
In Taiwan, this book is translated Resolve in Two Seconds.I found it is very interesting,it told people must make decisions fast and also told people after make them must think about them for seconds to avoid making mistakes.
One friend of mine told me this thick book actually is talking about Chinese traditional herbalist doctors in her opinion.I agreed with her because Chinese herbalist doctors have many different experiences of a lot of cases but sometimes too many information can interfere with the accuracy of a judgment, such as their diagnosis.
