wish
hope表示“希望”,多引导宾语从句,表示希望的事物有可能实现,常用句型是hope sb that
eg he hopes that he will pass the exam
i hoped i would be able to go on study.
表示希望某人做某事,绝对不可以用hope sb to do sth,只能用hope sb that来说.
wish也有希望的意思,但是一般是不太可能实现的事情,要用虚拟语气.
eg i wish that the sun would rise from the west
我希望太阳从西边升起.但这是不可能的,所以用虚拟语气.wish的常用句型是how i wish that
eg how i wish that the dinosaurs would appear.
how i wish i could go back to yesterday
这都是不可能的事情.
wish还有祝愿的意思,常用于祝福语中.这时用真实语气
i wish you a merry christmas.
he wishes us a happy new year.
